SUMMERTON - Robert Bundy McDuffie Jr., husband of Grace McDuffie, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, two days after his 83rd birthday.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, "Bob" was a son of Robert Bundy McDuffie Sr. of Bishopville and Marie Benbow Harvin McDuffie of Summerton. He grew up in Forest City, North Carolina, and attended Wofford College before beginning a lifelong career in the furniture business, starting with his father at McDuffie Furniture Co. in Forest City and later for Thomasville Furniture Industries, until his retirement. He had a passion for golf, playing college golf at Wofford and serving as captain of the golf team for two seasons. He was a member of the French Huguenot Society and the Quixote Club. He especially enjoyed time with friends and family, when he always managed to brighten the room with his stories, humor and big presence.

In addition to his wife, Grace, whom he loved dearly, he is survived by four children, Robert McDuffie of Charlotte, Scott McDuffie (Molly) of Sumter, Tania McDuffie of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Davis McDuffie of West Palm Beach, Florida. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) and Parker (Abby) McDuffie and Spencer and Ramsey Lawter; and two great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Annelise McDuffie.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at Bullock Funeral Home in Sumter with a reception to follow immediately at the Quixote Club in Sumter.

An interment will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at Summerton Evergreen Cemetery.
