BALTIMORE, Md. - Robert David Carolina Sr., 76, affectionately known as "Sonny," died on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore.

Born on Jan. 14, 1945, in Mayesville, he was a son of the late Jerry Sr. and Rosalee White Carolina. He joined Galilee Baptist Church in Mayesville at an early age, where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Sonny attended Eastern High School in Sumter and was a school bus driver. Sometime after relocating to Baltimore, he met and married Barbara Allen and had two children, Tami Allen and Robert David Carolina Jr. Sonny made his career as a truck driver and retired from Carolina Freight Carrier Corp.

Survivors in addition to his wife and children include two grandsons, a granddaughter-in-law and a great-granddaughter, all of Baltimore; siblings, Azalee Lesane of Glenn Dale, Maryland, Katherine Carolina of Mayesville, Jerry Carolina Jr. (Joann) of Roselle, New Jersey, and Rovena Rice of Decatur, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, David Luckey of Bronx, New York, and O'Neal Lesane of Lynchburg; and a host of nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Annie Mae Luckey of Bronx and Vernice Margaret Lesane of Mayesville; and brothers-in-law, Jonathan Lesane Sr. of Baltimore and James Arthur Rice of Decatur.

Sonny's life will be celebrated from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Nov. 18, at Vaughn Greene Funeral Services, Randallstown, Maryland.
