Ronald Coleman "Casey" Pitts, 87, son of the late Carl and Elliotte Pitts, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, in Sumter, following a brief illness.

Casey attended public school in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and was a proud alumnus of North Carolina State College. Casey and his wife, Sue, have lived in Sumter since 1979 and attended Sumter First Baptist Church. He retired from DeKalb AgResearch. Casey enjoyed organizing tennis matches with his many friends - the Sumter Seniors - on Saturday mornings, hosting bridge games in his home, and he was an avid college football fan.

Casey is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sue Andrews Pitts. Other survivors include three children, John (Beverly) Pitts of Bowling Green, Kentucky, David (Wendy) Pitts of Harrisburg, North Carolina, and Lynn Pitts of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Sara Pitts of Pippa Passes, Kentucky, and Adam (Bailey) Pitts of Bowling Green; a great-granddaughter, Harper Elliotte Pitts of Bowling Green; two brothers, Charles Pitts of Sumter and twin brother, Roland Pitts, of Mechanicsville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life service was held on Saturday in Sumter at Covenant Place Chapel.

Casey's ashes will be interred at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20, at Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. The graveside service will be open to the public.
