RUTH PRINGLE PERRY

Ruth Pringle Perry was born on Jan. 8, 1930, in Sumter, a daughter of the late Lucious Pringle Sr. and Pauline Spann Pringle.

She was affectionately known as "Sistah" by many. She received her formal education at Mulberry Baptist Church School. She had a great love for reading, doing arts and crafts, making friends, working through word find books and challenging anyone with a good game of Scrabble. Sistah was skilled in many other areas as well. Her greatest passion was for canning and preserving food in jars for family and friends. She enjoyed giving and sharing with everyone.

On Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, the Father called his daughter, Ruth Pringle Perry, into eternal rest at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter.

She leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories with 11 children: six sons, Nathaniel (Deloris) Perry Jr. of Paxville, Elder Abraham (Barbara) Perry and Trustee Clinton (Gwendolyn) Perry, both of Sumter, Deacon Lester (Cynthia F.) Perry of Jacksonville, Florida, Ruben O. Perry of Sumter and Elder Sammy J. (Pamela) Perry of Timmonsville; five daughters, Betty J. (Pastor Isaac Sr.) McCullum of Sumter, Elder Brenda Richardson of Florence, Pastor Dr. Mattie P. (Willie) Malachi of Wallace, Cynthia P. (Daryl) Cooper of Gainesville, Florida, and Linda Faye Perry of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a spiritually adopted daughter, Elaine (William) Bailey of Charlotte, North Carolina; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lucious (Earnestine) Pringle and JC (Gloria) Pringle of Detroit, Michigan; one sister, Tiny Mae Daniels of Sumter; a cherished best friend and cousin, Martha Ann (Leavester) Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and caregivers, who loved her dearly.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nathaniel Perry Sr. (1981); a granddaughter, Berlese McCullum (2017); two brothers, Rhuel Sr. and Limmie Tee Pringle; and a spiritually adopted son, Rowland (Bessie) Seymore.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Pringle will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Friday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 Mulberry Church Road, Sumter, SC 29153 with Pastor Leroy Blanding officiating and Pastor Nate Brock, eulogist. Interment will follow at Mulberry Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. at the home, 1870 Robert Perry Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
