RUTHA PETERSON COPELAND MACK

Rutha Peterson Copeland Mack, 68, departed this life on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on May 25, 1951, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late James Wilson and Caroline Peterson. Rutha was joined in holy matrimony for more than 30 years to the late Herbert L. Copeland Sr. She then united in marriage to the late Joe Mack. She was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church and later joined St. John Apostolic Holiness Church.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Leroy (Gail) Copeland, William Copeland, Cynthia Copeland and Joann Copeland, all of Sumter, and Deborah Copeland of Plover, Wisconsin; brother and sisters, Deloris Lewis of Timmonsville, Jacy Peterson, Blondell Sweatman, Carolyn Fraizer and Jeanette Holman, all of Columbia, Mary Sanders of Elliott, Geneva Rogers of Bishopville, Patricia Wilson of Lugoff and Michael Peterson of Columbia; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Geneva Copeland Williams; special friend, William Missouri; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 217 Wilson St., Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cains Mill Road, Sumter, with Pastor Betty Pringle officiating.

The procession will leave at 1:20 p.m. from the residence.
