Sammie Lee Choice Jr. transitioned into eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1979, in Sumter, a son of the late Sammie Lee Choice Sr. and Shirley Mack Choice. Sammie accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Wayman Chapel AME Church. He sang with the Master and Angelic Children Choir. He was currently attending Christ Community Church in Sumter. Sammie graduated from Lakewood High School in 1997. He was an avid football player. He received a full scholarship to play at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business. Sammie was united in marriage to Kristina Ellis on June 7, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Sumter. To his union, they had two boys, Tae Lee and Kam Lee. He really and truly loved and cared for his sons.

Sammie leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving wife, Kristina Ellis; two sons, Tae Lee Choice and Kam Lee Choice; one sister, Alisha (Joseph) Johnson of Sumter; two nieces, Madison and Skylar; a grandmother, Queen C. Mack of Wedgefield; a special aunt, Margaret E. Mack, who reared Sammie and Alisha in her home after the loss of both parents; three additional aunts, Betty (Patterson) Mellette of Wedgefield, and Roberta June and Louada (Herbert) Nelson, both of Sumter; three uncles, Derek A. Mack of Wedgefield, and Herbert and Robert Choice of Sumter; five grandaunts, Clara Ford, Minnie Ford and Inez G. Croom, all of Sumter, Geneva C. Montgomery of Union, New Jersey, and Mary C. Croom of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; three granduncles, Edward (Louise) Choice of Sumter, and Daniel (Nancy) Choice and Joe Louis Mack, both of Washington, D.C.; a special cousin who was like a brother, James O. Mack; a host of cousins, April, Renata, Lynell, Adrian, Tihanta, Chris, Jonathan, Santana, Rodrick and Donnie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Linda Ellis of Ocala, Florida; one brother-in-law, Darin Ellis of Lakeland, Florida; two godmothers, Teresa Bracey and Catherine Choice, both of Sumter; a special family friend, Johnny Spann; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Mack Sr.; and his paternal grandparents, Sampson and Lillian Choice.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Choice will be placed in the school at 1 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Lakewood High School, 350 Old Manning Road, Sumter, SC 29150, with Pastor Mark Yoder officiating. Interment will follow at Wayman Chapel AME Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 270 Apollo St., Wedgefield, SC 29168.
