SARAH WEAVER SANDERS

Sarah Weaver Sanders was born in Florence on Nov. 25, 1926, to Tony and Malvenia Sharpe-Weaver. She departed this life on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at her home in Gable after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her family and friends.

Sarah began her education in Fairfield County, attending Fairfield County Training School in Winnsboro. She later graduated from Manning Training School in Manning.

Sarah was married to the late Hubert Sanders Jr. They were united in matrimony for 55 years until his death in 2001. To this union, seven children were born.

Sarah was a faithful and active member of Congruity Presbyterian Church for 74 years. She served on the deacon's board, senior choir and the United Presbyterian Women's group. She also served as a Sunday School teacher. Prior to joining Congruity, she attended Harmony Presbyterian with her family.

Sarah was employed at Campbell Soup Co. from 1965-1990. She worked in plant services until her retirement.

Her hobbies included reading and writing poetry, watching her soap operas, MSNBC news and The Lawrence Welk Show. She also enjoyed gardening and had a passion for her dogs. She will be remembered by all her family and friends for her willingness to selflessly give of herself to her family, church, community and friends.

Affectionately known as "Myme" to her children, she leaves to cherish her memories: Marvin (Frankie) Sanders of Sumter; Alvin (Ella) Sanders, of Bowie, Maryland; Elaine Sanders (Walter) Jackson of Orangeburg; Deborah Sanders of the home; Joslyn (Marvin) Fields of Augusta, Georgia; Tony Sanders of Lynn, Massachusetts; Teresa S. Smith of Waldorf, Maryland; a brother, Frank (Shirley) Frierson of Sumter; a sister-in-law, Maggie McFadden, of Beaufort; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her devoted caregiver Rachel Shannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Elease Saxon Green; and grandson, Scott Sanders.

Public viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Job's Mortuary.

Mother Sanders will be placed in the church on Monday at 11 a.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at noon at Congruity Presbyterian Church, 3750 Congruity Church Road, Gable, with the Rev. Alonza A. Washington officiating.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
