Sumter school board’s Facilities Committee will meet Monday night to get an update on building and classroom sanitization and air quality issues from the district’s maintenance staff.
A district staff member notified The Sumter Item of the meeting on Sunday afternoon, and the committee meeting comes as the district has initiated its transition to a hybrid/blended of model of instruction for some students.

Committee members, which include trustees Frank Baker, Brian Alston and Matthew “Mac” McLeod, will also discuss with district staff a building review of Crosswell Park Early Childhood Center.

The district is in the midst of renovations to that facility, at 475 Crosswell Drive, for it to house its alternative placement program, which was previously housed at Mayewood Middle School. The facility is near Crosswell Drive Elementary School.

According to the meeting agenda, trustees will have the opportunity to tour the early childhood center at 6 p.m., prior to the committee meeting which begins at 6:45 p.m. There will be no discussion of meeting agenda items during the building tour, according to district staff.

The committee meeting will be at the early childhood center, but like all board-related meetings since April, it will be virtual, and members of the public will not be able to attend in person.

All people wishing to attend may do so via YouTube Sumter School District Board Meeting and the district's Facebook page, @SumterSCSchools.
