SEAMAN SINKLER RICHARDSON III

Seaman Sinkler Richardson III, 69, died on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Seaman Sinkler Richardson Jr. and Helen Edens Richardson. Mr. Richardson was a retired employee of J.H. Seale Gas Co. He was a member of the 1969 Edmunds High School State Championship Football team. He was also the state champion for the 100-yard dash.

Surviving are a son, Corey Richardson (Ashley) of North Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Amber Richardson (William) of Chapin; a brother, Michael M. Richardson Sr. of Sumter; a sister, Nelle Ward (Larry) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Dexter Richardson and Braelyn Byrd; a nephew, Mike Richardson Jr.; a niece, Megan Adkins (Ryder); great-nephew, Thatcher Adkins; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Wells, Frank Edwards, Jay Richardson, Trey Richardson, Artie Barker and Thomas Atkins.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home prior to the service.
