Shirley Ann McMillan, 70, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Shirley was born on Nov. 29, 1948, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Ted and Stella McLaughlin McMillan. She graduated high school from Frankford High School and completed extensive continuing education in early education later in life. Shirley was raised in Philadelphia and was a faithful servant of the Lord. She began her walk of faith at an early age when she joined St. Thomas AME Church of the Frankford community of Philadelphia. Shirley would go on to live in Detroit, Michigan, and ultimately move to Sumter to care for her parents. She worked for many years as a daycare provider with Luv-N-Care Day Care Services. She was a devoted member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sumter, where she served as a deacon, usher, teacher's aide at Covenant Community Center and Children's Bible School Teacher. Shirley also served on the homecoming planning committee, Presbyterian Women's Association, willing workers choir, Voices of Praise Choir and was an active participant in Bible study.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Marva Lewis and son-in-law, Pascal Lewis, of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Justin Lewis; one brother, Joseph McMillan of the home; one uncle, Hampton McMillian of Oswego; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 52 Carrol Drive, Sumter.

Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at New Covenant Presbyterian Church USA, 907 Legare St., Sumter, with Pastor Elijah Washington, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at New Covenant Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Sumter.
