On Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, God called his son, Stacey Bernard Drayton, home to rest.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1975, in Sumter County, a son of James Drayton Sr. and the late Inez Porcher Drayton. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School Class of 1993. He joined Bethel AME Church in his youth. He worked at Alpha Powder Coating of Sumter.

He leaves to cherish his memories: five brothers, Elder James (Rosa Mary), Albertus (Renae), Curtis and Tyrone (Katrena), all of Sumter, and Michael (Kenyatta) of New Jersey; four sisters, Pastor Linda (Darryl) Brooks of Sanford, North Carolina, Beatrice (Willie) Charles, Geneva (Johnny) Lacosta of Pinewood and Tracey (Maurice) Ashford of Sanford; a brother-in-law, Matthew Jones of Sumter; two aunts, Minnie Lee Drayton of Sumter and Mary (Marion) Carter of Palmetto, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 204 Armstrong Blvd., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Elder James Drayton Jr. officiating.

The procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1379 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville.
