Stephen Benbow, 50, was born on Dec. 24, 1969, in Sumter, a son of Annie Benbow Garrett. He was reared in the home of his maternal grandparents, the late Aaron Sr. and Rosa Mae Benbow. He departed this life on Monday, Sept. 14, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Stephen was a graduate of Mayewood High School Class of 1989. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. From there, pursued his own business in Decatur, Georgia, until his health declined. Stephen joined Ebenezer AME Church at an early age. He was a member of the Prince Hall Lodge.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his mother, Annie Benbow Garrett of Columbia; a daughter, Natasha Brianna Benbow; four grandchildren, Brooklin, Skylar, Naomi and Karter, all of Decatur; two sisters, Valerie Burke and Tequila (Patrick) McFadden, both of Columbia; a faithful and dedicated aunt and caregiver, Virginia Benbow Henry of Mayesville; two special cousins, Miracle Henry and Tonika Benbow; seven aunts; seven uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Saturday at Mayesville Community Cemetery in Mayesville.

The family will receive friends at the home, 6 Congress St., Mayesville, SC 29104.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
