Steve Anderson Guest Jr., age 49, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Guest was born Oct. 8, 1957, in Louisville, Ky., but spent most of his youth in Europe. Steve attended high school in Munich, Germany, and graduated from high school in 1976 at Aviano Air Base in Italy. During his years in high school, Steve played soccer and basketball. Steve was captain of the high school soccer team and proudly led his team to win the All Conference Soccer Championship in 1975. Steve was named Most Valuable Player during this conference. Steve was an outdoorsman all his life. Steve loved to hunt and fish and truly enjoyed sharing his love of land and nature with his daughter and son. Steve was a gifted handyman, always willing to devote his time to help family and friends fix everything from cars to home appliances. He also was a motorcycle enthusiast and competed in many motocross events throughout his youth in Italy. Steve attended Salt and Light Church and St. Jude Catholic Church. Steve was a true friend toward his brothers and always looked after them.

Steve was a proud father to Christina Marie Guest and Christopher Cody Guest; a son of Steve A. Guest and Ursula Vogel Guest; a brother of Johnny R. Guest and his wife, Catherine, Michael D. Guest and his wife, Rita, and Jeffery G. Guest and his wife, Lorene (closest confidant and friend); an uncle to Johnny, Nicole, Rebecca, Barbara and Brianna Guest, and Holley, Al and Jenni Nelson; a nephew of Bill and Dixie Guest, Woodrow and Mary Ernie, Nanny Daugherty, Charlie and Mary-Jo-Guest, Barbara and Vitus Kraus, and Marie and Ludwig Doehler; and a cousin of Silvia and Manfred Nagengast, Gloria and Gary O'Conner, and Eric and Gabi Doehler.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church with the Father Charles Donovan, C.sS.R., officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent instead to either St. Jude Catholic Church, 521 Building Fund, 611 W. Oakland Ave., Sumter, SC 29150, or Salt and Light Church, P.O. Box 2491, Sumter, SC 29151.
