An organization that supports and advocates for Sumter's businesses has added a new member to its team.

Krystle Harm has joined the Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce as vice president of partner development. The New Hampshire native moved to Sumter in January with her husband, Capt. Ben Harm, an F-16 pilot who is stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, according to a news release.

Harm will help the Chamber grow through through new member recruitment while working with the business community to ensure "they maximize the benefits and services available to them through their Chamber membership.

"The City of Sumter is a wonderful, unique place with such a strong sense of community," she said.

Harm graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology and earned her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

"Her positive personality and eagerness to learn about our community is something we are greatly looking forward to," said Chris Hardy, president and CEO of the Chamber. "Krystle immediately impressed me at her first interview, and I knew she needed to be a part of our team."
