Sumter coroner: 1 death reported after Broad Street shooting

One fatality was reported after a shooting occurred on Broad Street near Morgan and Woodlawn avenues Friday evening.
Alki Williams, 27, of Willow Street in Mayesville, was pronounced dead on scene after being struck by gunfire, said Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker. No other injuries have been reported at this time, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department.
An autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston on Tuesday. The Next of kin has been notified.
The Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.
