Mayester Caper's request to rezone 2.12 acres of land into future tentative retail commercial space at 1040, 1050 and 1060 Concord Circle passed first of three readings necessary for approval with a 6-1 vote. Councilman Charles Edens voted against, voicing concerns it could support other uses rather than general commercial.
The planning department staff and commission both recommended denial of the rezoning request because the commercial rezoning isn't supported by the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, the blueprint of land use throughout the county, and lacks significant infrastructure for community development.
Final readings passed
Unanimously approved, the third readings of rezoning property at 828 Bethel Church Road for general commercial and 3909, 3901, 3875 and 3855 Camden Highway for limited commercial were finalized.
