The intersection will be constructed where the two streets meet, near the bypass over North Main Street.
County council also voted to alter the 2018 county employee holiday schedule to allow employees to recognize Veterans Day as a holiday in 2018.
Usually, county employees take Election Day off during election years, such as 2018, instead of Veterans Day.
Councilwoman Vivian Fleming-McGhaney said the day should remain a holiday for county employees because there are many employees who are veterans who should be able to celebrate that day. Schools, city offices and other agencies will also be closed in observance, she said.
In other news, council approved its 2018 meeting schedule.
