Sumter County primary sample ballots

Posted

Here are sample ballots provided by scvotes.org for Sumter County voters for the June 14 South Carolina primary election.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the website, "Your sample ballot is intended for informational purposes only and cannot be used as an actual ballot. Your sample ballot is a representation of what your actual ballot will look like on Election Day.

"While your actual ballot may look different, your sample ballot will contain the offices and questions for which you will be eligible to vote at the time the sample ballot is produced. Sometimes candidates withdraw or are disqualified prior to an election.

"Also, if you move and update your address, your sample ballot will likely change. Sample ballots are made available approximately 100 days prior to an election. It is best to check your sample ballot close to Election Day to check for any changes in offices and candidates.

"Your Sample Ballot may differ from other voters' ballots in your precinct.

You may notice when you head to the voting booth this election season that the representative you are used to voting for is not on your ballot.

That's because of redistricting, a process that happens every 10 years in response to updated Census data when electoral lines are shifted and redrawn to ensure an equal population in each district and therefore equal representation.

Redistricting does not affect precincts, so where you go to cast your vote should not have changed.
