SIMPLE LARCENY

Betty J. Morlan, 58, of 4915 Significant Drive, was arrested on March 8 and charged with simple larceny, $2,000 or less.

According to a release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Morlan allegedly took a metal shed from property on Packs Landing Road between Aug. 2, 2018, and Dec. 25, 2018. Morlan was indicated in the crime through provided written and audio statements according to the release.

RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS

Theresa Ann Browder, 55, of 35 Sawgrass Court, was arrested on March 8 and charged with receiving stolen goods, value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000, according to a release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Browder allegedly allowed co-defendants to bring a motor home, which was reported stolen from property on Packs Landing Road, to her property on Sawgrass Court between Feb. 1 and 22. The 1985 Pace Arrow motor home is valued at $5,000.

According to the release, investigators have written and audio statements indicating Browder's involvement in the crime.

SIMPLE LARCENY, RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS

William T. Sargent, 70, of 9510 Packs Landing Road, was arrested on March 8 and charged with simple larceny, $2,000 or less, and receiving stolen goods, value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Sargent allegedly took a metal shed, valued at $350, from property on Packs Landing Road between Aug. 1, 2018, and Dec. 25, 2018. This incident is related to the arrest of Betty J. Morlan.

Sargent also allegedly allowed co-defendants to bring a motor home, which was reported stolen from property on Packs Landing Road, to his property on Significant Drive between Aug. 1, 2018, and Jan. 5, 2019. This incident is related to the arrest of Theresa A. Browder.

FORGERY

Douglas Edward Tipton, 57, of 2571 Highview St., was arrested on March 7 and charged with forgery, value less than $10,000, by Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

According to a news release, Tipton allegedly presented a counterfeit $50 bill to a Farmers Propane clerk on Feb. 19. The release also states the clerk positively identified Tipton in video surveillance to law enforcement and gave a verbal statement that Tipton did present the counterfeit bill.
