Sumter County Sheriff's Office: Man's body discovered Monday outside abandoned Wilder Street home

The body of a young black man was discovered off a Sumter County road Monday morning.

Antwan Dukes, 17, of Belmont Drive, was pronounced dead on scene, according to Robert Baker, coroner with the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

The body was discovered in front of an abandoned residence on Wilder Street, said Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The manner and cause of death is pending at this time.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed on Wednesday at The Medical University in Charleston.

The death is considered suspicious, according to Sarvis.

An investigation is ongoing.
