Pugh was returned to the traffic stop scene. He attempted to break the rear window of a patrol car and was sprayed by a deputy.

Pugh began threating deputies and their families. After being placed in the back of a patrol car, he continued stating threats, saying that when he got out of jail, he was going to find all the police that were on scene, slap each one, find their children and cut their heads off and spit down their throats, according to an incident report.
