Sumter County investigators are searching for two people wanted in connection with a reported theft from a vehicle after they failed to turn themselves in last week.

Amanda Dawn Powell, 39, of East Fulton Street, and Jesse McDonald Preast, 32, of Timmerman Street, have been identified by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, according to Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the agency. They were both supposed to turn themselves in voluntarily on May 10 but failed to do so, Sarvis said.

More than $200 was stolen and about $400 in damage caused to a vehicle on Twelve Bridges Road on May 5. Both Powell and Preast face charges of breaking into a motor vehicle and larceny.

The couple may be traveling in a gray Dodge Avenger with black rims and a Price if Right Auto Sales paper tag. Neither has a valid driver's license.

Powell is a white female with blond hair and hazel eyes. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds.
Preast is a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 235 pounds.
