Sumter crime briefs: Forgery, third-degree burglary and grand larceny

FORGERY

A 54-year-old man from Old Manning Road was arrested by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office on June 19 and charged with forgery of a value less than $10,000.

Charles Edward Cuttino is accused of presenting a forged check at a business in the 1800 block of Lewis Road to draw funds from a victim's account on June 11, according to a warrant. Law enforcement obtained evidence from video surveillance of Cuttino committing the reported act, according to a news release.

He posted a $5,000 personal recognizance bond on June 20, according to a public index search.

FORGERY

Meredith Sloan West, 34, of East Loral Avenue in Greenwood, has been charged by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office with forgery of a value less than $10,000.

A warrant states West reportedly gave a forged check to a co-defendant to cash for her on June 11. She was arrested on June 20, according to a news release.

West's bond for the forgery charge was set at a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, which she posted on June 20. However, she is awaiting a bond hearing for two separate contempt of circuit court charges and remains detained in Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center as of Tuesday, according to a public record inmate search.

THIRD-DEGREE BURGLARY, GRAND LARCENY

A Sumter man faces charges of third-degree burglary and grand larceny of a value of $10,000 or more after reportedly illegally entering a shed and taking tools, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Rasean Javon Davis, 30, of King Street, reportedly took the tools valued at more than $10,000 from a shed at a residence on Patriot Parkway on May 28. He was arrested on June 19, according to a news release.

The burglary accusation is a first-offense charge.

Davis has not yet posted a $2,500 surety bond for the burglary charge, nor has he posted a $1,000 cash bond for the grand larceny charge, according to a public index search.
