The Sumter County Democratic Party announced the official opening of its mid-term election campaign headquarters and will host a meet and greet Saturday to kick off the season.

The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at 641 Bultman Drive. Refreshments will be available.

At the event, attendees can also find 2022 candidate information (gubernatorial, congressional, Senate and Sumter local candidates), voter information, yard signs, voter registration information, assistance with checking to confirm your voter information is correct, precinct and polling information and information on how to get involved with volunteering.

According to Sumter Democratic Party Chair Willa Pembleton, both statewide and local candidates will be in attendance to engage with the Sumter electorate. Democratic candidates from Sumter County Council, the solicitor and probate judge races will be present, and there will be a special appearance by United States Democratic Congressional District 5 candidate Evangeline Hundley, or her designee, from noon to 3 p.m.

"If you are a Democrat, your presence is needed this midterm election cycle," Pembleton said in an email. "Hear from your local candidates, find out how you can become civically engaged and make a difference this election cycle by attending our kickoff event on Saturday."
