A Sumter County deputy has been shot at the scene of a domestic violence call and fire.

Fire Division Chief Joey Duggan said the fire is along Cains Mill Road and confirmed that the fire department is also on scene with the sheriff’s office.  Duggan said the fire is at the same house where the domestic violence call came from and that there have been no resuces needed directly from the house fire. The house was fully involved when units arrived on scene.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis told The Sumter Item a deputy has been shot but gave no more immediate details about the deputy's condition or that of other potential injuries or people on scene.

SLED is also on scene at Dennis' request, according to Stewart.

People are asked to avoid the area of Cains Mill near Kolb Road.
