Sumter High School's Cato recognized as December's Carolina Grove Teacher of the Month

Carolina Grove co-owner Jim Mayes Jr., right, recognized Sumter High School's Troy Cato as December's Teacher of the Month on Wednesday. By earning the most votes from the public of four finalists in The Sumter Item's online contest, Cato was recognized in the newspaper and online and received a $50 gift card to Carolina Grove, the contest's sponsor.
Voting is now open for January's Teacher of the Month contest. Vote daily at www.theitem.com/teacher. The winner will be revealed on Jan. 27.
