A 29-year-old Sumter man died following a shooting at the American Mobile Home Park Wednesday evening.

Xavier Ja’von Ballard was pronounced dead at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital that evening after suffering a gunshot wound, Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. at 4400 Broad St., and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office later arrested two men and one woman, said Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

The names of the individuals are not yet being released, but Sarvis said the incident was isolated, meaning the individuals involved knew each other.

Next of kin has been notified, and an autopsy will be performed Saturday morning at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office is investigating.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
