Sumter man allegedly shoots victim with shotgun, charged with attempted murder

A Sumter man was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime after a dispute with another man on Friday according to Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer with Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
Warrants state that Lynnwood Boyd Lee Riles, 28, of Timmerman Street, shot a male victim with a shotgun during a dispute, while in the 300 block of Timmerman Street on Oct. 7.
During the dispute, Riles reportedly told the victim he was going to shoot him before he retrieved a shotgun and fired the weapon, Sarvis said.
The victim was transported to a Columbia-area hospital for treatment, and Riles was transported to Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, where he remains as of Oct. 18.
Bond was set at $42,500 – $40,000 for attempted murder and $2,500 for possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
