Sumter man found shot in vehicle on Bultman Drive

Sumter police are investigating after a 21-year-old man was found shot in a vehicle early Sunday morning.

When officers responded to a shots fired call before 4 a.m., they located a vehicle in the roadway on Bultman Drive near Walton Drive. The vehicle had been struck by gunfire, and the driver, Kayaun Mytrell Daniels, was found wounded, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department.

Daniels, of Pioneer Court, was transported to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McGirt said the Sumter County Coroner’s Office notified his family and scheduled an autopsy.
