Sumter native chosen for internship with Sen. Tim Scott

Sumter native Danielle deHoll has been chosen to participate in U.S. Sen. Tim Scott's summer internship program in his Washington, D.C., office.

DeHoll, a graduate of Wilson Hall, is a rising junior at the University of Georgia majoring in Consumer Journalism.

"I'm excited to welcome Danielle to the office. She has been a great asset to the office, and I very much appreciate her service to the people of South Carolina," Scott said. "She has shown professionalism and maturity in handling all of her work assignments. We enjoy having her on the team, and I hope that her experience on Capitol Hill will be useful as she decides her next adventure to embark on."

Congressional internships have two focuses: education and service. DeHoll spends the majority of her time serving the people of South Carolina - she is one of the first points of contact in the office, greeting and guiding visitors, taking constituent phone calls, providing information and sharing constituent feedback with the senator. She guides tours of the Capitol for visitors from the state and is the presence from home that makes South Carolinians feel welcome at the Senate.

The other focus of Sen. Scott's internship program is education. Interns have the opportunity to work on specialized projects with staff in their areas of interest. With a minor in political science, deHoll is interested in political communications. She has worked closely with the press team and has had the opportunity to work on research and media projects.

"Interning in Sen. Scott's office so far has been an incredible experience. Working every day at the Capitol, I get to see some of the country's most important and hardworking people striving to better our nation from day to day. I had the opportunity to deliver a bill to the cloak room, the room I learned about in my history classes in high school, and the next day the bill was on the news. It's amazing to see the tiny impact I made by delivering such an important bill! I am absolutely loving this internship, and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work under such a great senator."
