Members of the Sumter Ministerial Alliance presented Sumter County Council with a framed statement signed by 68 pastors in their show of solidarity against racism and violence. The statement condemns racism as "a sin and lie against humanity and God." The Rev. Marion Newton, senior pastor of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, along with many other Sumter clergy, presented the statement on Tuesday during council's public meeting at Patriot Hall.
