Sumter Police Department's Back to School Bash canceled again

With COVID-19 cases back on the rise, the Sumter Police Department's annual Back to School Bash was canceled for a second year in a row.

According to Public Information Officer Tonyia McGirt, the police department is still planning to supply students with school supplies this year. How officers will do it is to be determined.

Last year, the department gave students backpacks full of school supplies and hand sanitizer at a drive-through event.
