Sumter police offering reward for information on suspect in shooting that left man paralyzed

The Sumter Police Department is offering up to $3,500 in reward money for information that helps locate and arrest a man suspected in an attempted murder and armed robbery.
Travon Derrell Ragin, 21, whose last known address is on Anne Park, was identified as the suspect in the May 31 incident where a vehicle was ambushed by an armed man at Ash Street and Northwestern Avenue, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.
Ragin is wanted on attempted murder, attempted armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and discharging a weapon into a vehicle charges after shots were fired and left a man paralyzed, McGirt said. Police think the shooter intended to rob the driver and his two passengers.
