Sumter School District's Board of Trustees' advisory Finance Committee will meet for the first time since late October on Wednesday morning at the district office.

The committee, which consists of three board members and a few private-business owners from the community, will review the official Fiscal 2018 Audit Report, which was presented at the Dec. 10 board meeting, according to an agenda distributed by a district spokeswoman Tuesday morning.

The district ended the fiscal year on June 30, 2018, with a $7.8 million surplus to lift its overall fund balance to about $8.6 million, according to its auditing firm, Mauldin & Jenkins LLC.

Those numbers were on par with year-end totals that district Chief Financial Officer Jennifer Miller had previously reported to the committee and the full board.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. at the district office, 1345 Wilson Hall Road, and like all board-related meetings is open to the public.
