Mother, infant test positive for marijuana
Shayla Strong, 35, was arrested on Jan. 30 and charged with unlawful neglect of a child for allegedly giving birth to a male child who tested positive for THC/marijuana on Jan. 4. Strong also tested positive for marijuana before giving birth, states a release from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Cashing a check he couldn't handle
Javaris S. Leach, 22, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with forgery of less than $10,000 for allegedly cashing a counterfeit check for $487.65 at a grocery store on Guignard Parkway on May 11, 2018.

Alleged sexual assault perpetrator charged
Daniel Green, 26, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly engaging in sexual battery with a female victim by forcing the victim to perform a sexual act on him on Jan. 19. A release from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office states the incident happened inside a vehicle near U.S. 378 and St. Paul Church Road.

Man faces charge for alleged sexual assault
Terrance D. Singletary, 22, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with criminal sexual conduct for allegedly assaulting a woman while at a residence in the Olanta area on Jan. 25. A release from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office states the victim pushed Singletary off of her during the alleged incident, but he grabbed her arms, removed some of her clothing and assaulted her.
