Darius Moye, son of retired Master Sgt. Darryl Moye and retired Chief Master Sgt. Cheryl R. Moye of Sumter, joined more than 200 outstanding middle school students from across the U.S. who took part in a unique academic and career-oriented development experience, Envision's Junior National Young Leaders Conference in National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The conference is one of the Envision family of programs (www.envisionexperience.com) that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Moye was nominated to attend the forum by one of his teachers at Hillcrest Middle School. Voted on by his peers at the conference, Darius garnered the "Voices of Change, Most Likely to Successfully Recruit Members Award" for his outstanding contribution to the team project.

"As an alumna of Envision myself, I was excited for Darius to meet, work, and collaborate with other high-aspiring students from across the country," said Amanda Freitag Thomas, SVP for Envision. "Hands down, my favorite part of attending Envision's Junior National Young Leaders Conference was being with motivated students in an environment designed to help us challenge our assumptions, meet new people and grow."

In addition to attending the conference, Moye was inducted into Junior National BETA Club this year, participated in the school's Academic Challenge Team and played basketball with an Amateur Athletic Union team in Columbia, which won the 2019 Sumter Splash Basketball Tournament. He was also selected for and attended the South Carolina Governor's School of Art and Humanities in Greenville in June.
