Sumter Today: The Joy Prom gives Sumterites with special needs their night to shine

It's a milestone in most teens' lives to go to prom, but many students with special needs miss out on the chance. On Saturday, the Joy Prom let teens and adults experience prom and spend a night that was all about pampering them. Fifty-six participants got to have their hair and makeup done or shoes shined for free then get a limo ride over to The O'Donnell House for a night of dancing and fun.
