Sumter Today: Thursday, May 7 Coronavirus Update

As of DHEC's daily update Wednesday, an additional 97 cases have been identified as well as nine additional deaths, bringing the total number of people confirmed to have COVID-19 in South Carolina to 6,936 and those who have died to 305. In Sumter, there have been 271 confirmed cases and 12 deaths. Clarendon County has had 24 people die from the virus among 248 cases, and Lee County is at 70 cases and eight deaths.
