Sumter Today: Crosswell Elementary School is recognized for its COVID-19 response in the classroom

Schools everywhere have seen the impacts of not seeing their students in person for so long during the pandemic, and one administration in Sumter’s response to the setbacks recently got recognized by an international education group.
Crosswell Drive Elementary School recently welcomes students back to four days of in-person instruction a week in the classroom.
To help students recover what they lost during the pandemic in terms of assessment, the school initiated a model that puts students into small groups based on learning level.
We stopped by the school this week to observe their two pilot classrooms and learn more about why it’s working.
