Sumter Today: Native American Heritage Month Honored by USARCENT and USAFCENT

Posted
November is National Native American Heritage Month, and to mark the occasion, U.S. Army Central held a joint ceremony with U.S. Air Forces Central.

The event featured a cultural performance and an opportunity to learn about Native American codetalkers who helped relay information during both World Wars by using their language as a barrier to foreign enemies.

The ceremony was held at Patton Hall, which is ARCENT’s headquarters on Shaw Airforce Base and a direct link to the famous Army general who led the change in tide for Allied forces in World War II.
