Trek along the Lake Marion Passage of the Palmetto Trail with other local hikers Saturday, April 30.

Fellow Palmetto Trail hikers welcome all to join Sumter Trail Monitor Kyle Austin for a 3-mile round-trip hike starting at 10 a.m. to see the beautiful spring colors along with wildlife.

The meeting spot will be Packs Landing, 9890 Packs Landing Road in Pinewood, in the far end of the parking lot at the trail kiosk next to the boat ramp.

There are only 30 spots available for the hike. Those interested are asked to register online at palmettotrail.salsalabs.org/lakemarionhike or call Kyle Austin at (803) 983-2903.

According to palmettoconservation.org, the "Lake Marion Passage skirts along the high-water mark of the lake's north side between Santee and Mill Creek County Park. Trail users are rewarded with magnificent vistas of the upper coastal plain and opportunities to spot abundant wildlife and colorful flora, especially in the spring rainy season."
