Sumter UPS employee allegedly exposes himself to sunbather
Company confirms he is no longer employed by UPS
A Sumter woman got an unexpected and unwanted surprise from a now former UPS employee on Saturday.
The woman reported being approached by Bryce Dewayne Williams of Mood Avenue while she was sunbathing at a residence on Deer Track Circle, according to Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. The woman reported that Williams asked for directions, and when she turned to face him, she realized his pants were unfastened and his genitals were exposed.
The victim positively identified Williams in a SLED six-person lineup. Williams was charged with indecent exposure, and a $10,000 surety bond was set at his hearing on June 3 at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. He has since been released from jail.
Williams was arrested in September 2018 and charged with two counts of indecent exposure after he reportedly exposed his genitals to a person on M&N Road on Aug. 31 and Sept. 21, according to previous reports. He was 22 at that time.
He pled guilty, and his sentence of up to three years confinement based on the Youth Offenders Act was suspended to 18 months of probation, which started in February. He was not required to register as a sex offender.
In an email, Senior Manager of Public Relations for UPS Matthew O'Connor, stated "We are working with law enforcement, and Mr. Williams is no longer employed by UPS."
