The runoff election for the Sumter City Council Ward 4 seat will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the precincts listed below from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Folsom Park / Swan Lake at Willow Drive Elementary, 26 Willow Drive
- Crosswell / Loring at Crosswell Elementary School, 301 Crosswell Drive
- Palmetto Park at Central Carolina Technical College, 660 N. Guignard Drive, Bldg 700
- Burns Down, Alice Drive Middle School, 40 Miller Road
- Morris College at North HOPE Center, 904 N. Main St.
- Hampton Park at the Meeting House at Memorial Park, 407 W. Hampton Ave.
- Magnolia Harmony at South Sumter Resource Center, 337 Manning Ave.
- South Liberty at American Legion Home Bldg., 28 Artillery Drive
- Shaw at Shaw Heights Elementary School, 5121 Frierson Road
On the initial voting date of Nov. 5, none of the five candidates secured a majority of votes to win outright. The two front-runners, Gene Weston and Rebecca Lynn Kennedy, will be in the runoff.
Weston earned the most votes, securing 24.69%, or 584 votes, followed by Kennedy, who got 22.37%, or 529 votes.
The winner of the runoff will succeed Councilman Steve Corley, who did not run for reelection.
The three other candidates were Lucy Mahon, who got 20.42%, or 483 votes; Jimmy Davis, who got 17.8%, or 421 votes; and Scott Burkett, who got 14.33%, or 339 votes. There were nine write-ins.
