WEDGEFIELD - Thomas Harvey Parsons, 77, husband of Carolyn Goodson Parsons, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at his home.
Born July 12, 1942, in Danville, Virginia, he was a son of the late Claude Irvin Parsons and Janie Riddle Parsons. He was a member of Wedgefield Baptist Church and retired from Volvo Heavy Truck Corp. in Dublin, Virginia. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years; two children, Randy Allen Parsons (Connie) of Salem, Virginia, and Charles B. Parsons (Sheri) of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Jared Parsons (Rebecca), Christopher S. Parsons (Kayla), Caitlin C. Parsons, Dana Marie Johnson (Matthew), Kaylee N. Parsons, James D. Phillippi (Lauren) and Douglas R. Phillippi; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia P. Goodson (Ronald) of Iron Station, North Carolina, and Earline P. Grant (Herman) of Danville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew B. Parsons; and two brothers, Aubrey G. Parsons and Laverne T. Parsons.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wedgefield Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home.
