Thomas Sumter Academy recently held its annual Black History Month celebration led by history teacher and coach Paul Greer, who used the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math to devise a multifaceted curriculum. Students focused on black history, literature, poetry, art and scientific achievement and conducted research projects, wrote biographical essays, read speeches and sermons, analyzed poetry and built storyboards. The celebration was capped off with guest speaker, the Rev. James Cabbagestalk, pictured, who spoke about life, culture and faith during the Jim Crow Era and the Civil Rights Movement.
