Thomas Sumter Academy's Sarah Maloney named Carolina Grove Teacher of the Month for March

This is the seventh in a contest series called Teacher of the Month. Presented by Carolina Grove, the public is asked to nominate their favorite K-12 teachers in Sumter's public and private schools. After the nomination period, the public votes between four finalists determined by The Sumter Item staff. The Teacher of the Month is announced in The Sumter Item's newspaper and online at www.theitem.com/teacher on the fourth Wednesday of the month. The winner receives a $50 gift certificate to Carolina Grove.

"Mrs. Maloney comes from a big family of teachers! Both her parents, as well as her brother and sister, are in the education system! She has been teaching high school math for more than 10 years. She continuously goes above and beyond for her students! Mrs. Maloney tutors current and past students on the side in her free time from being a mom of three and another on the way! She's a bright light in the classroom and thoroughly enjoys teaching. During these tough times of the pandemic, Mrs. Maloney has continued her excellence in teaching and furthering her students' education!"
