Thomas Sumter boys, Wilson Hall girls win cross country meets

Thomas Sumter Academy's boys cross country team won the SCISA Region 2-1A meet, while the TSA girls finished second on Wednesday at Patriot Park SportPlex.

TSA won with 26 points. Josh Fugate led the way with a third-place finish in a time of 18 minutes, 27.81 seconds. Sam Lawing was fourth (18:47.68), Cameron Dixon fifth (19:11.18), William Wright sixth (20:07.28) and Ethan Brannon eighth (21:17.78).

In the girls meet, Thomas Sumter's Reese Distelzweig was the individual winner in 20:56.55.

TSA finished with 43 points, as Palmetto Christian won with 24. The Lady Generals' Kaci McBrayer was sixth (28:19.22), Taryn McBrayer seventh (23:39.90), Piper Hitch 13th (24:20.40) and Anna Bell 16th (25:21.68).

Wilson Hall girls 1st, boys 2nd

Wilson Hall claimed the top four spots to win the SCISA Region II-3A meet on Wednesday at Patriot Park SportPlex.

Molly Moss was the individual winner in a time of 21:55, for the Lady Barons, who won with 17 points. Jordan Thornton was second (22:08), Bailey McInerney third (23:06) and Kaitlyn Smith fourth (23:15). Caroline Bozeman was seventh (28:09).

Emma Danback led Laurence Manning Academy in a time of 26:01.

In the boys meet, Wilson Hall finished second with 47 points. Trinity-Byrnes won with 24.

The Barons' James Hiott finished second overall in 19:11. Connor Smith was seventh (20:29), Haile McElveen ninth (20:39), Will Overby 13th (21:13) Dominic Marro 16th (21:49).

LMA was fourth with 101 points. Brocy Secosky led the Swampcats by finishing 12th (21:05).

B TEAM FOOTBALL

Wilson Hall 30

Hammond 0

Wilson Hall improved to 7-0 on the season with a 30-0 victory over Hammond on Thursday at Spencer Field.

Shawn Micheal Matthews caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Owen Meyers for the Barons. Drew Ferriell had a 35-yard TD run, while Jackson Bonser ran for 80 yards and scored two 2-point conversions, Carson Wilsey ran for a TD and Meyers ran for a 2-point conversion.

Parker McLeod led the defense, returning an interception 37 yards for a score. Ferriell had an interception, while Meyers had six tackles and Wilsey four.

JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL

Hammond 40

Wilson Hall 28

Wilson Hall lost to Hammond 40-28 on Thursday at Spencer Field to fall to 5-2;

Clark Kinney ran for 100 yards and a touchdown and also threw for a touchdown to lead the Barons.

Cameron Coulter ran for 98 yards and a touchdown, threw for a score and ran for a 2-point conversion. rushing TD and a TD pass.

Dylan Richardson caught a TD pass, rushed for 37 yards and kicked two extra points. Jake Hutchinson had a scoring reception.

Miles Van Patten led the defense with six tackles and a fumble recovery.
