Today marks 3 meetings in 3 days for Sumter School Board

Trustees to discuss superintendent search, receive legal advice on possible claim

The consultants helping Sumter School Board with its search for its next time full superintendent said the month of February would be a busy month for the trustees, given the Jan. 30 deadline for applicants.

And that’s certainly proving to be the case with another special called meeting tonight.

A district spokeswoman distributed an agenda for today’s meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

It will be the third meeting in three days -- and the fourth in nine days -- for the board to discuss and sort through superintendent applicants in executive session behind closed doors, according to the agenda.

Similar to Monday’s meeting, the board will also receive “legal advice relating to a pending, threatening or potential claim,” the agenda states.

The board may or may not take action after returning to open session. It hasn’t taken any action in the three previous special-called meetings since last week.

Today’s meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at the district office, 1345 Wilson Hall Road. Like all board-related meetings, it’s open to the public.
