TOMICKA Y. ELEY-MADDOX

Posted

Tomicka Y. Eley-Maddox was born on Feb. 26, 1972, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Georgie Eley and the late Joseph Eley Jr. She was also the granddaughter of the late Janie B. Ford Singleton.

On Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, in Sumter, God dispatched an angel from heaven to transport his daughter from her earthly charge to her heavenly home.

Tomicka was a funny, vibrant and amazing soul that no one could forget if they'd ever met her. She received her academics foundation from Hillside Elementary and High School in Hillside, New Jersey. She also attended Rutgers College for two years. Her love of helping and caring for others led to working in home healthcare. In 2005, she moved to Columbia and also stayed in West Columbia, until 2016. In October 2016, she moved to Sumter to care for her mother and continue her love of healthcare.

She leaves to cherish precious memories: her mother, Georgie Eley; her grandfather, William Singleton; a brother, Joseph Eley III; three children, Malaysia Maddox, Charles "CeeJay" Maddox Jr. and NaFiz Sims; five grandchildren, Ka'Mari, Khalil, Amir, DJ and Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Eley-Maddox will be placed in the church at noon on Sunday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, with Dr. Otis Butler Jr. officiating.
