Dalzell -- Thomas Sumter Academy’s JV and varsity volleyball teams fell to The King’s Academy on Monday night on B.J. Reed Court in Edens Memorial Gym.

Junior Varsity

Thomas Sumter Academy's JV team lost 2-1, after a thrilling second set forced a deciding third set. The Lady Generals trailed throughout the first set before battling back to tie TKA at 23-23. The Lions then won the next two points to take the set 25-23.

TSA flipped the script in the second set, leading throughout before the Lions made a run to close the gap to just 23-20. A timeout settled the Lady Generals, and they eventually won the set 25-22.

The Lions jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead in the 15-point third set before the Lady Generals battled back again, eventually cutting the deficit to just 13-12. The Lions again took the last two points to win the set 15-12, and the match 2-1.

Emily Holladay led the way offensively for the Lady Generals with four kills, and two aces. Emily Young added three kills, a block, and an ace, and Libby Gore added a kill, two aces, and an assist.

Varsity

Thomas Sumter Academy’s varsity team was swept 3-0 by TKA for the second time this season. The Lions dominated the first and third sets, but barely scraped by in a competitive second set.

The Lady Generals fell behind 17-8 in the second set, and later 20-11 before winning 13 of the next 17 points to cut the deficit to 24-23. However, the Lions were able to prevent the Lady Generals comeback attempt, and came through with the winner to take the set 25-23.

TKA led the third set 10-1, and then sailed to a 25-7 victory.

Lindsey Daniel led the offensive attack with three kills and three aces. Logan Scruggs added five assists, and Karleigh Young notched two kills for the Lady Generals.
